Il commento La storia dell’educazione sentimentale di Julie è interessante solo a tratti. A volte sembra che Trier voglia scimmiottare Bergman con le Scene da un matrimonio, ma altre volte si lascia andare a metafore visive (il mondo paralizzato durante l’appuntamento) e a una dolcezza romantica molto apprezzabili. La Norvegia vista solo in estate in qualche modo perde qualcosa.

Il commento Pur avendo una struttura molto standard (due personaggi in contrasto che nel loro arco evolutivo supereranno le loro differenze), Quiz Lady ha diverse trovate parecchio divertenti e soprattutto non ha paura a presentare due protagoniste senza dubbio sgradevoli, per quanto vengano ammorbidite durante il film. C’è anche un Will Ferrell in grande spolvero.

Il commento Mezzo documentario, mezzo thriller, mezza piece teatrale, Reality è un film che è un tre mezzi. La storia dell’accanimento su un’impiegata dell’NSA che aveva divulgato documenti con leggerezza ha un suo significato civico e politico, ma cinematograficamente è interessante soprattutto la costruzione come thriller delle tecniche di interrogatorio dell’FBI, prendendo i dialoghi letterali. Si tratta di tecniche così perfezionate che fanno paura.

Il commento Accidenti come funziona tutto benissimo in questo film: la trama ingarbugliata con incredibili coincidenze che sembrano perfettamente plausibili, la presenza di Madrid non protagonista ma fonte di gioia e di disgrazie, un cast in stato di grazia capitanato da Carmen Maura (ma meritano una menzione Maria Barranco e un nerdissimo Banderas), una grandiosa colonna sonora, il gioco di soprapposizione tra realtà e cinema già visto in precedenza (Pepa è un’attrice), le donne al centro di tutto rispetto ai maschi, e il Mambo Taxi. Mamma mia che gioia il Mambo Taxi! E, soprattutto, una messa in scena e una regia che testimoniano l’avvenuta maturità di Almodovar.

Il commento Un buon horror australiano variazione del genere “ragazzetti che giocano con gli spiriti e finisce male”, che però affronta il tema dell’elaborazione del lutto e ha un approccio sintetico nei confronti dello spettatore: non spiega esplicitamente nulla, quello che serve si capisce. Allo spettatore degli horror piace non essere trattato come uno scemo.

Il commento L’idea anti-darwiniana di questa versione de “Il dormiglione” è carina, e anche la distopia del futuro è brillante, però il film è solo moderatamente divertente, scricchiola abbastanza nella sua idea e, a pensarci, è piuttosto antipatico (gli scemi, ovviamente, sono gli altri, mica te, dice il film strizzando l’occhio allo spettatore).

Il commento L’ormai classico film di Coppola rimane un film molto affascinante sotto diversi aspetti. Il recupero dell’origine del mito di Dracula dalla fonte originaria, la sensualità trasmessa dal mostro e i suoi famigli, la doppia ambientazione tra Transilvania e Londra, e anche il tentativo, riuscito parzialmente, di riprodurre la struttura epistolare del romanzo.

Il commento Il titolo italiano “Oscure presenze a Cold Creek” trae in inganno promettendo un horror di case infestate, mentre invece è un thriller vagamente di home invasion, pesantemente ispirato a Cape Fear, con molte banalità e diversi wtf. Scritto proprio male.

Il commento La storia di “We are the world”, la canzone neocolonialista degli anni ‘80, è interessante dal punto di vista dello sforzo produttivo, ma c’è tanta retorica e zuccherosità in mezzo a molte curiosità interessanti. Colpisce forse l’unica stilettata su come la povera Sheila E. sia stata sfruttata per raggiungere Prince (fallendo!). Lionel Richie era fatto come un coppertone.

Il commento Il fatto che “L’uomo nero” sia tratto da un racconto di Stephen King è evidente dal tema dei lutti familiari, ma come capita spesso non basta la firma di King per avere un film. The Boogeyman prova disperatamente a far paura per tutto il film, ma ci riesce molto raramente: a volte è quasi imbarazzante e fa quasi pena nel vedere come si impegna e come fallisca miseramente. In più ci sono alcuni elementi accessori (l’high school drama, il personaggio della moglie dell’“untore”) che allungano il brodo senza reali vantaggi. Il merito maggiore è la trasmissione dell’inquietudine di non essere creduti. Ne rimane un film horror abbastanza standard, con qualche passabile invenzione o tema, avanti il prossimo.
